SUPPORT FOR CHILDREN & YOUNG PEOPLE

Anxiety & Overwhelm

Some young people may hold a lot inside. They may worry frequently, overthink situations, struggle to switch off, or become easily overwhelmed.

Anxiety can show up in many ways. For some, it might be social anxiety, worrying about what others think, avoiding speaking in class, overanalysing conversations, or feeling uncomfortable in group situations. For others, it may centre around specific situations or events, or show up as a persistent negative inner voice.

Sessions focus on calming the stress response and gently reducing anxious thought patterns, helping young people feel more settled, more in control, and better able to cope day to day.

Exam Pressure

Exams and academic expectations can create a significant amount of pressure. Some young people feel overwhelmed by revision, struggle to focus, procrastinate, or experience intense anxiety before or during tests.

Sessions support the development of calmer thinking, improved focus, and greater emotional steadiness, helping young people approach exams feeling more prepared, confident, and able to remain calm and focused.

Confidence & Self-Belief

Confidence can fluctuate throughout childhood and adolescence. Some young people doubt themselves, compare themselves to others, or place a great deal of pressure on themselves to get everything right. Low self-belief can also prevent individuals from pursuing goals or aspirations that feel important to them.

This work focuses on building a more supportive and balanced inner dialogue, strengthening self-belief, and helping confidence grow so that each young person feels more able to be their authentic self.

Neurodivergence

I also have experience working with children who are neurodivergent, including those with ADHD, ADD, dyslexia and autism. Through my work as a teacher in SEND settings, I have developed a strong understanding of these differences, along with a deep appreciation for the varied ways individuals think, learn and experience the world. Neurodivergence is not something that needs to be fixed, in fact it also brings many unique strengths and talents too.

At times, however, anxiety, sensory overwhelm or low confidence can sit alongside it. Sessions focus on building a clearer understanding of how the mind works, while developing supportive strategies that reduce pressure and play to individual strengths.

Screen Time & Digital Overwhelm

For some young people, screen time and phone use can begin to affect mood, sleep, focus, and confidence. This may show up as difficulty switching off, increased comparison, or feeling overstimulated by constant input.

Sessions focus on creating healthier, more balanced patterns around screen use in a way that feels realistic and supportive.

Performance & Public Speaking Confidence

Some young people experience strong nerves when performing or being seen, such as speaking in front of others, answering in class, reading aloud, or taking part in drama, singing, or presentations. This can feel like a fear of getting things wrong, being judged, or freezing in the moment.

For some, anxiety can also begin to affect speech, making it harder to get words out clearly, or increasing stuttering or stammering in certain situations.

With a background in performance, this area is a particular focus. Sessions work on reducing the underlying worry linked to specific speaking situations, which can help ease pressure around speech, while also building a sense of safety in being seen and heard. This supports more natural, confident self-expression over time.

Phobias & Fears

Fears and phobias can feel very real and overwhelming. This may include fear of school, medical appointments, animals, sickness, being away from parents, or sleeping alone.

Sessions help gently reduce the intensity of the fear response, so young people can feel safer, more confident, and less restricted in their everyday lives.
